Artist Gian Cruz was born in Manila and currently lives in Barcelona. For the past couple of months, he´s been planting and tending the patio of our headquarters on Carrer Vilamarí in Barcelona. On Thursday 7th of July, he held a workshop inspired by his grandmother Aurora, who was passionate about gardening and plant collecting. Cruz inherited her passion, and he emphasises the feminine legacy in her work, combining references from popular culture and Philippine art history. We heard some of his personal stories of migration and took part in a Foliage Drawing activity, where we drew some of the plants that most remind us of home.
